How would I even do it? Where do I start? If you’re asking these questions, good news: you have already taken the very important step of becoming informed and seeking advice.

First off, we do not recommend jumping headfirst into booth rent without planning for the future. We DO recommend saving up some money ahead of time in order to be financially sound when you decide to make the move. It’s a big decision that should not be rushed into by any means. In any case, we suggest you prep with some of the following tips:

• Strengthen your social media presence. You’re responsible for filling your chair, and it’s best to get comfortable marketing yourself as a business if you’re not already.

• Keep in touch with your current clients and establish further loyalty. Some clients will follow a stylists to the ends of the earth; others might need a reason.

• Do some research! Shop around, visit salons, meet salon owners, and see if the potential salon is a good fit for you.
